HMS Victory is the world's oldest naval ship still in commission, most famous as Lord Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. She is preserved in the oldest dry dock in the world at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, where she has been on public display since 1922. The ship was launched in 1765 and served as a first-rate ship of the line for over forty years before her role at Trafalgar made her the most celebrated warship in British history. Visitors can tour the ship from the upper deck down to the orlop deck, where Nelson died after being struck by a musket ball during the battle. The ship has been meticulously restored and maintained, and the tour brings to life the conditions faced by the crew of over 800 men. The spot where Nelson fell is marked on the quarterdeck. HMS Victory is part of the National Museum of the Royal Navy and is included in the Historic Dockyard's all-attractions ticket. She remains the flagship of the First Sea Lord, a role she has held since 2012, and continues to fly the White Ensign.
