Spinnaker Tower

The Spinnaker Tower is a 170-metre landmark observation tower at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, and the tallest publicly accessible structure on the south coast of England. Completed in 2005 after a lengthy construction period, its sail-shaped design is intended to reflect Portsmouth's maritime heritage. The tower has three viewing decks at different heights, the highest at 110 metres, offering panoramic views across Portsmouth, the harbour, the Solent, and the Isle of Wight. The lowest viewing deck features a glass floor, known as the Sky Walk, which allows visitors to look directly down to the waterfront below. On clear days the views extend to the South Downs, the Needles on the Isle of Wight, and along the coast in both directions. The tower also has a sky bar and cafe at the upper levels. The Spinnaker Tower has become the defining landmark of modern Portsmouth and is visible from miles around, including from Gosport, Fareham, and the Isle of Wight ferries. It anchors the Gunwharf Quays development and draws over 300,000 visitors annually.
