Pagham Harbour becomes a nature reserve
undefined
Pagham Harbour was designated as a Local Nature Reserve in 1964 and subsequently became an RSPB reserve, recognising its importance for wading birds and wildfowl. The harbour, a shallow tidal inlet between Selsey and Bognor Regis, holds internationally significant numbers of wintering birds and supports breeding terns and waders in summer. The designation provided formal protection for the habitat and established the management framework that has maintained the harbour's wildlife value.
