Stubbington Lane
Street guide, Solent News
Stubbington Lane is the main road connecting Fareham with the village of Stubbington and continuing toward Hill Head on the coast. It runs roughly north-south from the Fareham area through Stubbington village, where it meets the crossroads at the village centre, before continuing as Hill Head Road toward the seafront. The road passes through a transition from suburban Fareham to the more village-like character of Stubbington, with housing giving way to open fields and hedgerows on the approach to the village. Stubbington village centre, around the crossroads with Gosport Road and Titchfield Road, retains a distinct character with local shops, pubs, and the parish church. Traffic on Stubbington Lane has increased steadily over the years as housing development in the area has grown. The opening of the Stubbington bypass in 2024 was intended to relieve some of the through-traffic that previously had to pass through the village crossroads. The lane remains busy at peak times, particularly with traffic heading to and from Hill Head and the coast. It is a route familiar to anyone living in the Fareham and Stubbington area.
